We are a husband and wife partnership dedicated to the welfare of our animals and the craftmanship of quality fleece products. 

Barnacre Alpacas was founded in 2007 after three years research into these enchanting animals.  Many hours of studying and farm visits bought us to the conclusion that we wanted to pursue the alpaca dream.

Our aim is to produce friendly animals with excellent conformation carrying fine, dense fleece.  Each of our animals is known by name and their individual personalities are clearly recognised.  We are using their magnificent fleece to produce a variety of quality handcrafted products.

"I am responsible for the day-to-day running of Barnacre Alpacas.  This means I get the good jobs including caring and socialising with the alpacas to earn their trust.  I keep detailed medical and behavioural records for each animal and know every one of them by sight and behavioural traits.  I also get the not so nice jobs, especially cleaning the paddocks!  I believe passionately in alpaca farming and am proud to serve as Chairman for NEBAG, the North East and Borders Alpaca Group."

Paul Rippon - Finance / Husbandry assistant
"Allegedly I am the brains of the business, responsible for keeping both the finances and wife in check - I only wish I could say the same about Kate!  At weekends and evenings I help Debbie with the general care and husbandry of the animals and our farm.  Watching and feeding the alpacas is a great stress relief from a busy day job, I have even been known to wake up early in the morning to see them before I head off to work."

Hughie - Marketing Director / International Superstar
