All Barnacre hand knitted garments come gift wrapped with the elegance you would expect from buying something that is uniquely created from lovingly cared for animals.

Alpaca Fibre is exceptionally fine, warm and bright.  It is lighter and softer than cashmere yet stronger, warmer and more durable than wool.  Our animals are sheared once a year and the fleeces are then either hand spun by Debbie or processed at a specialist mini mill with no dyes or chemicals.  The end result is a natural, luxurious yarn.

Fibre is different to wool.  Scales overlap to form wool and this can create a harsh feel called the 'itch factor' at 30 microns.  Alpaca fibre is formed with the scales paved or butted up to each other around a hollow core.  This makes it smooth to the touch but more of a challenge to process it.

Purchases are easy.  Browse the online catalogue, click 'buy' or 'add to cart' for any items you wish to buy.  After you have finished making your selection(s), click on "shipping" and you will be asked for a few more details that we need to take your order.  Alternatively feel free to email, phone or even write to us! Delivery will occur within 3 days of us receiving your PayPal or electronic payment or after your cheque has cleared (this takes 6 working days).

Returns will be accepted within 7 days of you receiving the goods and we will give a full refund so long as the goods are returned to us in the condition we sent them to you.

Shipping and handling is undertaken at no extra charge by Royal Mail 'first class recorded signed for'.  This requires a signature from the receiver and delivery should be the next working day.  Purchases over the value of £100 will be made by Royal Mail 'special delivery next day'.  This requires a signature from the receiver and delivery is guaranteed the next day.

Washing your alpca fibre garment should be done carefully by hand using a mild hand washing liquid, hand wrung and laid flat to dry.  Alternatively, professionally dry clean.
